Are Credit Cards widely accepted?
Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Turkey to pay for goods or services.
You are also able to withdraw from the cash machines too, but be aware that there may be a charge from your bank as well as a local commission from the Turkish bank. You can see the charges on the ATM screen. For those with a Barclays bank account the Turkish bank TEB has an agreement for fee free cash withdrawals at their ATM.
However, cash is king, if you want to haggle a price, be prepared to pay cash. Taxis require cash payments and also waiters and other workers appreciate tips left in cash.
