What Local Medical Care Is Available?
Kalkan has a local GP practice or medical clinic located on what is known as the Kalamar Road (Cumhuriyet Cad.) The sign for it is "Sağlık ocağı". It is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday inclusive. The centre has several English-speaking doctors who may also be available to visit you at “home” on a private basis. There is also a private surgery run by Dr Niyazi who is available on weekends and later hours than the local clinic. His services are charged for. The local clinic can be accessed for free but a donation for services is appreciated. You will need to take your passport if attending.
Many minor complaints can be dealt with by visiting one of the local chemists. The sign "Eczane" shows where they are. Many medications here are available without prescription and are relatively inexpensive but antibiotics are now doctor controlled so you would need to obtain a prescription for those.
If you suddenly become very unwell or have an accident, we recommend you contact the manager of the property you are staying in for assistance. If they can not be reached you should ring the emergency services at 112 or our rental team. The nearest public hospital is located in Kaş, but for most complaints, guests will visit Fethiye, where there is a good choice of hospitals (e.g. Esnaf and Letoon) with English-speaking liaison staff.
There are several dental clinics in Kalkan where you can have excellent dental work done at significantly cheaper prices than in the UK.
